Valerie, Having heard you talk about the concept it is a thrill to see it made real. The drawings, of course, are terrific. But more than this the animation to bring it to the web is very well done. I think the pace, the transitions and the combination of abstract representations of the women's lives with concrete representations of their spaces, families, vehicles, etc. make this enthralling. You also manage to draw us in rather than put us off. My web attention span for video is usually 2 minutes or less. Not so here.
This is also timely. Having woken to further signs that Pakistan is on the edge (Sri Lankan Cricket team attacked), we need understanding of one another's humanity the world over more than ever. Bravo, and thank you.

I'm sure this has taken many many hours of work to do and contains a lot of care and skill. Still, your text contains a lot of nonsense such as "Humiliation of Israeli checkpoints" DUH>>>if rocket parts were being smuggled into your neighbor's house, in order to kill YOU, would you not have a problem with that? Your talents as an artist deserve a more well considered text. I am not feeling any greater sense of sympathy or relatedness due to this artwork. Mostly I think it's a big time sink and a mis-use of your time and talent. Why not let yourself draw and paint and be the artist you can be? Why hide behind a bunch of idealogical illogical text?

I spent a couple of hours reading the diaries, concentrating on the drawings, watching the animation, turning the pages, listening to the music and singing -- what a totally absorbing experience! It felt so intimate. What a tremendous amount of work and collaboration it must have taken. What has been the reaction to your sisters in the the middle east?
